17/01/2013 T&T rejoines ETAD

ETAD welcomes back the Taiwanese dye manufacturer T&T Industries Corporation, which officially rejoined ETAD in January 2013.

30/11/2012 Pigments as potential nanomaterials and Reg. 10/2011

On November 29th P. Fois and S. Lawrence had a meeeting in Brussels with representatives of the EC to discuss the status of pigments in Regulation 10/2011 on plastic materials intended to come into contact with food. The crucial issue presented by ETAD is the ongoing discussion on the potential labelling of organic pigments as nanomaterial and the possible repercussions to their compliance with Reg. 10/2011. ETAD provided information about the current knowledge on the safety of organic pigments and will follow the issue in further contact with the EU authorities.

05/11/2012 ETAD in Taiwan

End of October Walther Hofherr, ETAD’s Executive Director participated to a seminar organized by the national Dyestuffs and Pigments Industrial Associationgave a presentation on current activities of ETAD. Further he met with Taiwanese authorities and representatives of the Industrial Technology Research Institute. These events, organized thanks to the strong engagement of Oriental Giant Dyes owner, Mr. Chiu, resulted in a valuable opportunity to interest other Taiwanese colorants manufacturers in the ETAD membership and to establish a direct contact with the local regulatory bodies.

25/09/2012 Meeting with METI on PCBs

ETAD's Executive Director Walther Hofherr met in September in Japan a METI representative and discussed the issue of PCBs in colorants, also presenting an overview on the corresponding current international regulation. Additionally, ETAD was asked to assist the Japanese authorities by providing information on specific regulatory details which will help clarify the status of PCB in pigments.

26/06/2012 ETAD meets KemI

End of June ETAD was invited at KemI, the Swedish Chemicals Agency, to provide its expertise on colorants used in different applications, particularly textiles. One of the goals of KemI is to study the feasibility of a list of colorants suitable for textile applications to be provided as a reference by the Swedish authorities. Furthermore, ETAD also provided input on the current status of colorants for toys and cosmetics applications.
